DISPENSING MEDICATION AND MEDICAL EMERGENCIES

We will administer prescribed medication ONLY IF THE PARENT FILLS OUT A MEDICATION FORM.  This form must have complete instructions on dispensing any medication.

All prescription medications shall be presented in the original container labeled with the child’s name and date.  Personnel are ONLY allowed to follow the directions on the container.  All non-prescription medication will be administered only when approved in writing by a physician or the parents and in accordance to the label instructions.  We can only give medication orally.  Any other type of medication, parents may come in and provide for the child.

***** Our staff will not administer medications from Mexico.  Parents must make arrangements to come in and dispense the medication to their child.

In case your child shows any symptoms of illness while in care, we will notify the parents or authorized person to pick the child up.  If the child shows a fever of more than 99.0°F, we will administer ibuprofen to avoid fever from rising while the parent or authorized person picks up the child.  If for any reason the parents or authorized persons cannot be reached or cannot come to pick them up within 30 minutes, we will call an ambulance.  The child will then receive medical attention by their physician (if available) or the nearest hospital.  In any situation, the expenses shall be the responsibility of the child’s family.

As per code 746.3607, in case of an illness or injury within school hours, emergency medical services will be contacted.  The child will then be given first-aid treatment or CPR when needed.  Parents or authorized persons will be notified immediately by text message with a picture of the child and/or phone call.  Physician designated by the parents will also be contacted as needed.
