FORMAL AND INFORMAL ASSESSMENTS

Rhema’s Learning Center, LLC will conduct informal assessments that measure children’s developmental progress.  A developmental screening checklist from the Children’s Learning Institute (CLI) is used periodically to evaluate comprehension of skills across domains for the children under our care.  Assessment results are shared two times per year via Parent/Teacher conferences.  Parents are reminded that the screening is a check of their child’s development.  This checklist only shows that eht child may need further assessment in a certain domain.  If a parent has concerns, we provide information about community resources/referral options (Easter Seals RGV).  CLI assessment results are used to inform instruction on lesson plans.  Activities where children are found to have an “area of need” will be added to lesson plans and will be highlighted on the lesson plans.

Rhema’s Learning Center, LLC along with McAllen ISD will conduct formal assessments for children in our PreK3 and PreK program.  This screening is administered twice a year to evaluate children’s skills across domains.  Assessment results are shared with parents once they are scored by McAllen ISD staff twice a year via Parent/Teacher conferences.  If a child is found to have “an area of need” in certain domains, parents will be notified and information on referral options will be given to parents.
